The IFR Rating

Generalities

The training begins with a familiarization stage on the Elite-5/7 flight-simulator in order for the student to get used to the normal and emergency flight procedures.

Real flights begin only when the student has gained a satisfactory level of proficiency.

Requirements

Tableau de Bord Cessna IFR
  • 40 hours of instrument flight time, which 50% can be done on the Elite 5 or 7 simulator
  • 24 hours of ground school
  • A written exam at Transport Canada
  • A pre-flight test under the school supervision
  • A flight test with an examiner of Transport Canada

Options

  • a 5-hour training session on how to use a GPS is offered to the professional or private pilot-to-be, who wishes to improve his/her knowledge
  • English immersion during IFR navigation Quebec/Ontario
